Projects: What Happened in Macau

A personal piece exploring Macau (Special Administrative Region of China). On arrival in Macau I felt feelings of detachment and limbo... a place lost between its cultural history and booming modern development. After regaining independence from The Portuguese in 1999, Macau has seen huge investment from US casinos who are developing the the island into a "Vegas of the East". This essay explores Macau—lost in its own transition.
